Company Picnic Planning
Jun 2010

As we head on towards July, residents of the Midwest States of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois can look forward to some of the best weather of the year. In these summer months many companies hold annual company picnics to recognize their employees’ hard work and to provide a relaxed, fun-filled environment for co-workers to interact.
The nice part of planning a company picnic or company party lies in the versatility of its structure and sequence of events. There are infinite ways to plan a company picnic and ideas for a company picnic are only limited by ones imagination and resources.
Structure:
How do you want the event to unfold? Do you want an opportunity to address the company as a whole before, at the end, or throughout the event? Do you want attendees to move from one event to the next or let them roam?
As this is a casual function and is intended to give relief to your employees, it may be better to allow more loose rules and set-up for maximum enjoyment. If the event is structured too strictly and rigidly, it could really begin to feel like another work-related function or another day at the office, which defeats the purpose.
Setting:
Look around for a local park or open space where you can hold your event. Contact the relevant officials about renting and using that space for a specific time. If your company has enough space, you might hold it on company grounds. If you have a large group, local fairgrounds are great places to host your event.

Who is invited?
Your employees of course! It is a nice and thoughtful gesture to allow their family members to join and enjoy the festivities. Where you may want to draw the line is extended family and you certainly restrict non-related people who may just wander in. Depending in the setting, many companies set-up a registration area at their company picnic where guests check in and get wrist bands.
Company Picnic Entertainment:
| What you choose for entertainment can make or break your company picnic. Company picnic games are one thing, but they certainly aren't the only option. Alongside games and rides there are a host of other options to pick and choose from that can make your company picnic a highlight of your business' year. If your company picnic is a success, it can serve as a point of year that gives your employees to look forward to and enjoy. The beauty of all this is the option to mix and match what game rentals, carnival ride rentals, or inflatable rentals you wish to incorporate into your event. |
